Historic Vienna, in Northern Virginia, is a beautiful old town with hundreds of quaint little gems hidden in every corner. This Valentine’s Day, whether you’re an old-fashioned romantic or looking for something safe to do during the COVID-19 pandemic, nothing will say I love you best like a well-thought out date.

Vienna has many resources to make Valentine’s Day this year the best day ever for you and your loved ones. Whether you have small children, are a little older, or maybe you just met someone, there’s something for everyone.

1. Valentine's Day Carriage Rides

If you’re looking for a way to make your date feel like a sweet romantic movie, a horse-drawn carriage throughout the picturesque Reston Town Center will complete the picture. Located just down Hunter Mill Road, this event is worth it if you’re looking for a nice dinner and a treat afterwards. Profits go to Cornerstones, a local charity that seeks to help mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on poorer families in the area. If you have kids that might want something to do, take them ice-skating at the rink in the Town Center, and then head over to Ben & Jerry’s for a hot chocolate!

The Virginia Department of Tourism is also leaving up the L.O.V.E. sign in the Reston Town Center Square during this event for all to admire.

 2. Drive-In Movie

Remember when a date was just dinner and a movie? Even though those simple pre-pandemic times seem far away, there are some safe options out there that offer a similar experience without the risk of getting sick. The Boro in Tyson’s Corner is offering a drive-in movie experience, complete with complimentary chocolates and hot chocolate. Order out from one of the many restaurants located there and settle down to watch one of three romantic comedies. We recommend giving North Italia a try.

3. Livestream Event

Introverts and those who don’t want to leave their house for one reason or another can tune into a local livestream instead on Valentine’s Day. Live from Union Stage, this performance is an exclusive virtual event that kicks off the Story District’s annual Valentine’s Day show. No need to drive out to Washington D.C. when you can watch it from the comfort of your couch with your partner and some champagne.

The show will focus on tales of romance, funny dating stories, relationship woes, and real-life catastrophes. Some of these stories were pitched by locals to Story District.

 4. Vienna Florist

The most acceptable Valentine’s Day gift comes in the form of a bouquet of roses. Young or old, no matter who you are, flowers make that special someone feel even more special. Make sure you shop local and support your community while you’re looking for that perfect gift!

Located on Maple Street, Vienna Florist offers hundreds of selections for delivery to you or your loved one on Valentine’s Day. This shop is family-owned and operated and has been in the heart of Vienna for the past 19 years. You don’t have to live in Vienna to get a delivery from them either!

5. Virtual Valentine Bingo

If you are a little older, or if you know someone who is, the Town of Vienna is hosting a Valentine’s Day Bingo Night. This virtual event will let you stay in the comfort of your own home while having fun at the same time. If you’re over the age of 55, this virtual event offers prizes, gift cards, and more online games and sweet treats.

The event itself is free and available over Zoom. It is sponsored by Vienna Parks and Recreation.

6. Vienna Restaurants

Vienna restaurants are some of the best-rated places to eat in Northern Virginia. You don’t need to drive down I-95 to get into a fancy D.C. restaurant: Vienna has some for you already!

Clarity, a highly-rated restaurant on Maple Avenue, offers exquisite three course meals that are take-out only. These include hand-crafted gelatos with unique flavors, paellas, seafood, and wines.
