As the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day Weekend is the perfect time to spend quality time with family and have one last hurrah for your favorite summer activities. We made a list of 5 fun ways to celebrate the last long weekend of summer in Northern Virginia this year:
Lake Anne Jazz & Blues Festival
Reston, VA
On Saturday, August 31st, celebrate the 13th annual Jazz & Blues Festival at Reston’s original village center. The free, family friendly event will take place from 2-8pm and offer beer from Ornery Beer Company and delicious tacos from Lake Anne Deli, in addition to some awesome live music.
Fairfax, VA
On Monday, September 2nd, the 20th annual Labor Day Car Show will be returning to downtown Fairfax. This open show will include everything from antiques, customs, trucks, and motorcycles. The event will also include live music, food, and raffles- with all proceeds going to local charities.
Herndon, VA
On Monday, September 2nd, downtown Herndon will be celebrating their annual Labor Day Festival. Celebrate with craft beers, wine tastings, live music, lawn games, and some amazing food trucks. Admission is $25 for the wine or beer tastings, or $5 if you are just enjoying the entertainment. Children under 12 are free.
Bluemont, VA
What better way to celebrate the end of summer than the beginning of apple season? On August 31st, the Great Country Farms apples festival will be offering fun for the whole family. The admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children, and you get wagon rides, corn maze, cider press demonstration, giant slides, putt-putt golf course, a visit with the goats, and so much more! But if you’re busy this Labor Day Weekend, Cider Fest will luckily be going on for the rest of September.
Final Waterpark and Pool Weekend

Labor Day Weekend is usually your last chance to get one final splash in your favorite pool or waterpark. All Northern Virginia Regional Park pools will close on Labor Day, so be sure to take the kids to one last swim and float on the lazy river this weekend!
